As you know, agility requires a lot of strength from a dog for it to be able to control its body when performing obstacles and to be able to turn, collect and speed up efficiently and safely. So it goes without saying that fitness training benefits the dog in its agility career.
Imke Nie-wöhner, a vet from Germany, who offers many courses on dog fitness has built a training entity for you and your dog; basic static fitness exercises that can be done with all kinds of dogs: a young dog (building up core muscles he will need later on), sport dog (every dog in sports needs his core muscles!) or senior dog!
These basic tasks can already be started with young dogs (from ca. 5 months on). The entity consists mainly of tasks that build up core, belly and supporting muscles, which are especially important for the prevention of injury.
This training entity is a bit more complex so check it out through this link. The entity consists of the following:
Holding Positions (3 exercises)
Front Feet Targeting (3 exercises)
Hind Feet Targeting (3 exercises)
Changing positions (5 exercises)
Isometric exercises (4 exercises)
Download the training entity to your training list in the AgiNotes app! If you don’t have an AgiNotes account, you can create one for free. Downloading training challenges can also be done with the free version.
